NEW DELHI: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will hold its first meeting of the Central Election Committee on Tuesday at the party's headquarters. The meeting will be about choosing candidates for the Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections.
BJP national president JP Nadda will be at the meeting where the names of the candidates for the November 12 elections will be finalised.
Reports say that Prime Minister Narendra Modi may also be at the meeting. After the meeting, the party will announce the names of the chosen candidates on Tuesday night or Wednesday.
At two long meetings in Delhi on Monday, the names of candidates for each seat were talked about in depth. At the first meeting of the BJP's state election committee, candidates' names and election strategies were talked about in depth.
On Monday, the second meeting was held at Nadda's home. Nadda and Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, National Vice President and Himachal election in-charge Saudan Singh, Himachal in-charge Avinash Rai Khanna, Union Minister and Lok Sabha MP from Himachal Anurag Thakur, President of the Himachal state unit Suresh Kashyap, and other leaders of the state core committee. The meeting went on until late in the evening.
The nomination process for the Himachal elections has begun, and the last day to file nominations is October 25. Voting will take place on November 12, and the results will be announced on December 8.
