BJP MP from North Mumbai, Gopal Shetty claimed that Christian were English people and did not participate in the fight for the independence of the country. The controversy arose after the video clips that came with their alleged claim.

At the same time, the NCP said that the purpose of this comment is to make efforts for the empowerment of people from the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. This video clip on social media became viral and also broadcast on TV channels.

Gopal Shetty is a BJP MP from Mumbai North and he has often been in such controversy. In the year 2016, a fierce uprising was caused due to a statement made by Gopal Shetty on farmers, when they said that farmers do not commit suicide due to hunger or unemployment, but nowadays, suicide is normal for the farmers.

But taking this into consideration, farmers are given the profit and recently, the government has approved the new support price of Kharif crops, with the promise of 50 per cent more than the cost. The minimum support price of paddy has been increased by Rs 200 per quintal to Rs 1,750 per quintal, while the A grade paddy has been increased by Rs 160.
