Mumbai: BJP has announced the names of 4 candidates for the Maharashtra Legislative Council elections. The BJP has nominated Gopichand Padalkar, Praveen Datke, Dr Ajit Gopchade, Ranjit Singh Mohite Patil for the Maharashtra Legislative Council elections. In this, Ranjit Singh Mohite Patil belongs to Maratha society. The other three candidates of BJP come from OBC caste. Former party ministers Eknath Khadse, Pankaja Munde and Chandrashekhar Bawankule also wanted Legislative Council tickets, but the BJP has played bet on new faces in the Legislative Council elections.

Voting for the Maharashtra Legislative Council will be held on May 21. Ruling party Shiv Sena has already decided the candidature of the state CM Uddhav Thackeray and the party's veteran leader Neelam Gore for the elections on May 21 for the nine seats of the state legislative council. In the opposition party, BJP was also seen to be a great fight for the Legislative Council seat.

Uddhav is neither a member of the Legislative Assembly nor the Legislative Council, so it is mandatory for him to get membership of any one House. According to the constitution, within six months of work, he is required to be elected a member of either the Legislative Assembly or the Legislative Council and in case they are unable to do so, he will have to resign.
