Bengaluru: Amid the ongoing political stalemate in Karnataka, the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has written a letter to Assembly Speaker Ramesh Kumar demanding a no-confidence motion in the Assembly against the coalition government led by CM HD Kumaraswamy. The speaker has to take a decision in this matter. Meanwhile, out of the total 16 rebel MLAs in Karnataka, six are still sitting at the supreme court.

It may be mentioned that 10 rebel MLAs have already filed petitions in the apex court. Senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi asked the Supreme Court to hear all the petitions filed by them along with other rebel MLAs. At the same time, he sought an amendment to the petition filed by 10 rebel legislators earlier. All the rebel MLAs are demanding that the Supreme Court direct the Assembly Speaker to accept the resignation of all the 16 MLAs. The case is scheduled to be heard on Tuesday.

The Assembly session is in operation in Karnataka. Meanwhile, rebel MLAs staying at a hotel in Mumbai have demanded security from the Mumbai Police, terming it as a threat to their lives. It is also reported that Karnataka CM HD Kumaraswamy is expected to visit Mumbai to meet angry MLAs. The Congress Legislature Party is also meeting in Bengaluru on Monday. The rebel Congress MLAs have refused to leave.
