New Delhi: BJP is not in a hurry to form a government after the Kumaraswamy-led Congress-JDS coalition government was toppled in Karnataka. Before taking steps in this direction, the party leadership wants to wait for the speaker or the Supreme Court's decision on 15 rebel Congress-JDS MLAs. There is no doubt about taking the CM post in the party. The government will be commanded by former CM BS Yeddyurappa. On Thursday, senior party state unit leaders Jagdish Shettar and Arvind Limbavali met party President Amit Shah and Executive Chairman JP Nadda twice to chalk out a future strategy in the state.

The meeting decided to wait for the Supreme Court or the speaker's decision on 15 rebel MLAs before proceeding towards government formation. Party sources said that there was a consensus on the command to Yeddyurappa's in future government in the meeting. A senior party leader, Kemuth, currently has 107 MLAs in favour of the BJP. The difficulty is that the decision has not yet been taken in the context of the rebel MLAs. If the speaker disqualifies these rebel MLAs, it will be easier to form the government.

Besides, the party is worried that if there is any reversal in the decision, it will be difficult if some rebel MLAs again stand in favour of the old alliance. The leadership wants a firm interaction of the party leaders with the rebel MLAs before staked claim to form the government. Besides, the leadership wants the party to have the support of some more opposition MLAs, leaving no doubt about the stability of the government in future. If the decision on rebel MLAs is delayed, the Modi government may also opt for imposition of President's rule in the state.
