Guwahati: Vice President of Assam Legislative Assembly and veteran BJP leader Aminul Haque Lashkar said a big statement, 'Private madrasas will never be closed because they have kept the Muslims alive'. The Assam government has decided to close all government madrasas and Sanskrit schools. Notifications in this regard are expected to be released this month. 

While laying the foundation stone of a madrasa in Cachar district on Sunday, he said whether a madrasa is closed? These madrasas will never be closed because it has kept the Muslims alive. He said that many Maulana and Qazi have emerged from these madrasas. The Imams of the mosques have received teachings in madrasas. He said that they were never closed. Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had announced that all the government madrasas in the state would be shut down as the government could not support religious education in a secular society, the opposition parties reacted strongly to his statement.

The Assembly Deputy Speaker said that if in any case, the madrasas will get closed then there will be a protest. When the Congress agitates by the BJP government to shut down the madrasas, tell them that only the government madrasas will be closed. Lashkar has said that the closure of government madrasas will not affect the religious education of the Muslim community.
