New Delhi: A long debate over population control in the country has begun after a report released by the United Nations (UN) on population. In its report, the UN has said that India will become the most populous country in the world by 2023. The UN report said that by next year, India will overtake China in terms of population. In such a situation, fierce rhetoric has started about population control.

In a debate by a news channel, BJP leader and Supreme Court lawyer Ashwini Upadhyay spoke about the Hindu population. Ashwini Upadhyay said that there are 200 districts in the country from where Hindus are migrating. Advocating the population law, he said, "Those who say that where education comes, the population is controlled. Those people should go and see Kerala.'' The BJP leader further said, "There are 100 such families in Kerala who have 10-20 children and they are also educated. There is a nurse, a doctor and an engineer. Therefore, it is wrong to have control because of education.''

BJP leader further said "There is also a danger that 75 years ago, the country was partitioned by saying that you (Hindus) are nefarious, we can't live with you, we want Pak land, we are Pak people, we want Pakistan.'' On the situation of Hindus in India, he said, "Hindus in nine states have been wiped out. Hindus are left with 1 per cent in Ladakh, 2 per cent in Lakshadweep, 2-2 per cent in Mizoram and Kashmir, and 8 per cent in Nagaland. In this way, the population of Hindus has decreased in 9 States.'' At the same time, if you look at the figures according to the districts, then Hindus are migrating from 200 districts in the country. Upadhyay said there is a need to bring a strict law on population control, otherwise, if the law of greed comes, it will be the loss of Hindus.

Political analyst Sangeet Ragi, who was involved in the same debate, said, "Before the partition of the country, the number of Muslims in India was 23 per cent and they had demanded a separate country. After this, 14% of Muslims went to Pakistan and 9% stayed in India. Today it is 18 per cent.'' Sangit Ragi said that the situation today is that there are hundreds of districts in the country which have become Muslim majority. Let us know that in the debate started after the UN report, there is also a lot of rhetoric from the political corridors. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had said in the past that the population control programme should go ahead successfully, but at the same time the "population imbalance" should not be allowed to arise.
