Dehradun: It has become clear that Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami will contest from Champawat. Champawat MLA Kailash Chandra Gahtori has vacated the seat for him. In the 2022 assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party won a great victory in the state. Congress had to face a crushing defeat. The BJP had won 47 of the 70 seats. Congress had to settle for only 19 seats. Independent candidates won four seats.
Senior Congress leader Harish Rawat had lost the Lalkuan seat and CM Pushkar Singh Dhami lost his Khatima seat.
