Pune: Former BJP MP Kirit Somaiya today claimed on Monday that he was stopped by the police at Karad in Satara district of Maharashtra on his way to Kolhapur. As per the information received recently, Kirit Somaiya has been taken into custody at Karad railway station in Satara district. Last Sunday also, Somaiya had claimed that Maharashtra rural development minister Hasan Musharraf has been prevented from going to Kolhapur citing law and order and security reasons after he accused him of corruption.

On the other hand, Kolhapur Superintendent of Police Shailesh Balkawade said that a team of district police reached Karad and Somaiya was stopped at Karad railway station and a copy of the (Section 144) order was given. The official also said, "When we told him that he was forbidden to enter the district, he cooperated and will now return after a press conference in Karad.''

Let us tell you that Kirit Somaiya had accused The Rural Development Minister and MLA from Kagal in Kolhapur district, Musharraf on September 13 of indulging in corruption and possessing 'Benami property in the name of relatives. On the other hand, Musharraf has rejected all the allegations. Now, today, on Monday, Somaiya was scheduled to visit this district of western Maharashtra.
He showed a September 19 order issued by Kolhapur District Collector Rahul Rekhwar stating that under Section 144 of the Indian Penal Code, his entry into the district has been restricted "in view of the threat to his (Somaiya's) life and the threat to his life and the threat to law and order in view of his visit". Now Somaiya tweeted that the behaviour was "dadagiri" of the Uddhav Thackeray government. BJP's Maharashtra unit president Chandrakant Patil says the Thackeray government cannot suppress Somaiya's voice.
