West Bengal: On Friday, a team of West Bengal BJP leaders will meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to demand that the Citizenship (Amendment) Act be implemented in the state. The group will also meet with Prime Minister to discuss a number of West Bengal-related concerns.

Sukanta Majumdar, the West Bengal BJP chairman, will lead the group, which will also include party vice president Dilip Ghosh, BJP MP Saumitra Khan, and others. It is alleged that the budget for West Bengal's development that was announced is still pending. A total of Rs 25,000 crore has been set for the development of tea estates and the North-South corridor. The budget should be implemented, they demand. We will bring this to the Prime Minister's attention. We also want the CAA to be implemented as quickly as possible in West Bengal. Citizenship should be granted to those who are citizens of our country." Dilip Ghosh, the party's vice president, stated.

Persecuted Hindu, Sikh, Jain, Buddhist, Parsi, and Christian minorities from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan can apply for Indian citizenship under the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

Several opposition parties and organisations have protested the CAA's implementation. After the CAA was enacted by Parliament, there was significant outrage across the country, with many people killed in violence.
