Bengaluru: With pressure mounting on him to expand or reshuffle his cabinet, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai indicated on Monday that he is awaiting approval from the BJP leadership and was also attempting to bring the matter to their attention.

On January 28, when his government completes six months in office, the Chief Minister said he will hold a press conference and release a booklet outlining his administration's accomplishments.

"Four ministerial vacancies exist, and aspirations are natural. Nothing is wrong with it. While party leadership is aware of when and how to do so, I am bringing it to their attention as well. Whenever the leadership contacts me for a discussion, I will provide all pertinent information "Bommai stated in response to a question about the expansion of the cabinet during the reshuffle.

In response to a reporter's question about appointments to boards and corporations, Bommai stated that the matter must be discussed within the party and that any action taken in this regard will be based on the outcome of that discussion.

"It is up to the party; the party will convene and decide on the basis of which further action will be taken; there is currently no such proposal regarding board and corporation appointments before me as Chief Minister. The party is considering it; following deliberations, they will issue a report on which we will decide "'He stated.

Ahead of the 2023 Assembly elections, pressure is mounting on the Chief Minister to expand or reshuffle his cabinet quickly to make room for new faces, as well as to fill vacant positions on various boards and corporations by appointing party legislators and office bearers.
