Aurangabad: BJP MLA from Maharashtra Babanrao Lonikar is in trouble due to an audio clip. Actually, an audio clip has gone viral on social media, in which Lonikar can be heard threatening the MSEDCL officer. In the audio, Lonikar is furious over the power supply being disconnected at his Aurangabad residence and is threatening an Income Tax department raid on an MSEDCL officer. After the incident came to light, State Energy Minister Nitin Raut has asked the administration to register a case against him.

However, Lonikar rubbished the allegations and termed the audio clip as fake. He said that through this an attempt is being made to tarnish his image. In the purported audio clip, Lonikar is seen asking an engineer of Maharashtra Pradesh Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) why the power to his bungalow in Aurangabad has been cut. Also, his meter box has been taken, while he has paid the outstanding bill of Rs 10 lakh this year.

During the discussion in the same audio, Lonikar also asked why MSEDCL officials do not cut power supply in slum areas, where people steal electricity by hooking to overhead transmission lines. In the clip, the BJP leader was heard abusing the officer. At the same time, they are threatening the officer and saying that raids will be conducted by the Income Tax Department on their premises. When the audio clip went viral, Lonikar said that he neither called, abused or threatened any MSEDCL officer. He said that "the audio clip is fake and it has been made with the aim of tarnishing my image. I have a residence in Aurangabad, but MSEDCL has neither disconnected its electricity nor its meter has been recovered, hence my threats. There's no question of it. It's a conspiracy to defame me through fake recordings."
