NEW DELHI: A day after claiming "fast growth" of mosques on roads and government land in the national capital, BJP MP From West Delhi Praveen Sahib Singh Verma on Wednesday alleged Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of ignoring the issues for votes.

MP entry secretary Singh has said that he has evidence of encroachment. They have claimed that there are about 100 mosques on government land or roadside in the city. Meanwhile, the Congress and AAP leaders have hit back at the BJP, accusing it of "communalising" the issue for political gain in the Delhi assembly elections. Verma has claimed that mosques on government land and roads in many parts of Delhi, including his parliamentary constituency, have been "growing fast".

Verma said it is "affecting" traffic and causing "inconvenience" to the people. The MP wrote a letter to Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal on June 18 urging him to take "immediate action" in this regard. In a letter to the Lieutenant Governor, he said, "I would like to apprise the entire Delhi and especially in certain areas of my Parliamentary constituency (West Delhi) of a particular way of increasing the speed of mosques in government land, roads and secluded places." At the same time, Verma has also demanded immediate action from the Lieutenant Governor in this regard.
