Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Congress MLA Panchilal Meda alleged that on Thursday, the third day of the monsoon session of the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly, BJP MLAs tore his shirt in the House. On the other hand, Speaker Girish Gautam rejected the allegation and said that Meda himself had torn his shirt in the House.
In fact, Meda, who came out of the House wearing a torn shirt after the indefinite adjournment of the Assembly session on Thursday afternoon, told reporters in the assembly premises, "BJP MLAs have torn my shirt." Due to the discussion with the reporters, Meda, who belonged to the tribal community, started crying. He said- ''My life is in danger from (BJP MLA) Umakant Sharma and the government. I was fighting for the tribal farmers. So I was beaten up for suppressing my voice. I will demand my security from the Speaker and the state government.''
Meda alleged, 'I am intimidated in the House. Also beaten by the police.' A day earlier on Wednesday, in a question asked in the House on the allegation of him holding Umakant Sharma's collar, Meda said, 'I did not catch any Umakant Sharma's collar. He grabbed my collar and pushed me. I was on my way to tell Home Minister Narottam Mishra what had happened to me at the gate of the assembly complex. Umakant had come near me. As soon as the proceedings of the House began after the uproar of the Question Hour on Thursday, Meda approached Asandi saying that he wanted justice for the misbehaviour meted out to him by the security personnel yesterday (Wednesday) at the gate of the assembly. Assembly Speaker Girish Gautam told the House that these allegations of Meda have been investigated and there was no incident of Meda being thrashed at the assembly gate and clothes being torn. Then both the members of power and the opposition started creating a ruckus near Asandi.
