Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal claimed that BJP would get him assassinated by his own personal security officer (PSO), the way former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was killed, triggering a strong response from BJP. “The BJP would get me murdered by my own PSO (Personal Security Officer) one day like Indira Gandhi. My own security officers report to BJP,” PTI quoted Mr. Kejriwal told a news channel in Punjab.

Mr. Kejriwal was atop an open jeep when a man wearing a red t-shirt jumped onto the vehicle and slapped Mr. Kejriwal before being pulled off the jeep. The police claimed the attacker was a disgruntled AAP worker.

The Delhi Police reacted over his remarks and said, “The unit has been providing security cover commendably for several high dignitaries of all political parties. The security personnel posted in the security team of honorable CM, Delhi are equally well committed to their duties.”

Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly and senior Delhi BJP leader Vijender Gupta, referring to the incident on May 4 when Kejriwal was attacked by a man while campaigning, claimed that Kejriwal had asked the liaison officer to remove security from his car during the roadshow.

“The Delhi Police has given such protection only to one person, Arvind Kejriwal. In Delhi, two crore people are not getting that kind of security...The man who used to say that he was a common man, today moves with the highest security protection,” the leader added.

Incidentally, after Kejriwal was attacked, senior AAP leaders had raised questions about his security, provided by Delhi Police, which is under the Ministry of Home Affairs. The attacker was arrested and is now out on bail.
