Kolkata: Bengal Pradesh BJP President Dilip Ghosh has given an objectionable statement against protesters sitting on a protest against the CAA for the past several days. Where he said that illiterate women, who are sitting on a dharna against the CAA with their children in their arms, are eating biryani purchased from foreign funds. The Trinamool Congress and CPI (M) have strongly condemned the statement.

The statement made by the Bengal Pradesh BJP president against those opposing the CAA: On the last day of the two-day workshop of BJP workers in the ICCR auditorium in Kolkata, it is being said that Ghosh said that Delhi's Shaheen Bagh Or Kolkata's Park Circus, the people sitting on the dharna here are poor and unknown people. In return, they are getting money every day. It is being said that they are being fed biryani purchased from foreign funds. All this is being done to show that people are with them. Referring to CPI (M) leader Brinda Karat and Congress leader P. Chidambaram, he said that such people join their dharna when they go to Delhi or Kolkata.

The Trinamool Congress and CPI-M strongly condemned the statement: It has been learned that this statement of the state BJP president has strongly criticized the Trinamool and other parties including the CPI (M). State Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Subrata Mukherjee mocked Ghosh and said that he is so powerful that we are scared to hear his name. At the same time, CPI-M politburo member and former MP Mohammad Salim said that Ghosh was never a part of student politics, mass movements and grassroots politics. No person who understands the ground reality can make such a comment about these women. Whereas earlier too Ghosh had made a comment against the protesters sitting on a dharna against the CAA, saying that they are surprised that despite such a harsh cold, no one was killed in Shaheen Bagh or Park Circus. His statement was also severely criticized.
