Panaji: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is going to form the government in Goa for the second time in a row. It is reported that the swearing-in ceremony of the new BJP-led government has been scheduled for Wednesday, March 23. In the Goa Assembly Elections 2022, the BJP has emerged as the single largest party in the state with a victory of 20 seats. It is also being said that the BJP high command has decided to hand over the reins of the state to Pramod Sawant as CM.

Speaking to the media, BJP state president Sadanand Shet Tanwade said, "Observer Narendra Singh Tomar and Deputy Observer L Murugan will reach Goa on Wednesday and the leader of the BJP legislature party will be selected on the same day. The swearing-in ceremony of the new government will be held once the leader is elected.'' Let me tell you that in the 40-seat Goa Assembly, Congress was second only to the BJP.  A senior party functionary said that the swearing-in ceremony can be held at the newly constructed Darbar Hall at Raj Bhavan. "A decision on the venue of the swearing-in ceremony will be taken soon. Tomar and Murugan are also likely to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the new government.''

Let us tell you that the BJP, which won 50 per cent of the seats in the Goa Assembly, needed 21 seats for a majority. However, the party was already supported by independent MLAs Chandrakant Shetye, Aleixo Reginald Lawrence and Antonio Vaas. Apart from this, the party has also received support from MGP MLAs Ramkrishna Dhavallikar and Jeet Arolkar.
