Lucknow: National President of Samajwadi Party and former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Akhilesh Yadav accused the ruling BJP of ruining the agricultural economy yesterday. He has alleged in a statement that the farmer is in crisis due to government attitude more than natural calamity and the policies of agriculture have completely ruined the BJP's policies.

He has also alleged that he took his votes from the 'false' promises of waiving farmers loans, doubling their income and paying one and a half times the cost of production of the product and then taking them hostage with the corporate carried out the conspiracy. He also said, 'Farmers are humiliated at paddy purchasing centres. Today, due to unseasonal rain and corruption in the procurement of paddy, the farmers are in a state of disrepair and the government is behaving insensitively towards them. If the farmer does not commit suicide then what should he do?'

Akhilesh Yadav also claimed, "The minimum support price of paddy for the farmer is Rs 1888 per quintal but he has to sell paddy in the market for only Rs 1000-1200. The farmer is humiliated at the paddy purchasing centres. The truth is that the farmer God trust is alive. It has suffered exploitation and oppression in both Congress and BJP governments. Now the farmers are waiting for the 2022 assembly elections only when they will choose a new socialist government of their mind and get rid of the 'corrupt' BJP. "
