New Delhi: The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB’s) has planned to open Shariat courts in all districts of nation with the aim to focus and resolve matters according to Islamic laws.

This decision has triggered a massive row in the country. The proposal will come up for dialogue at talks of the Muslim Law Board in Delhi on July 15. But most of the BJP union ministers have termed the move as unconstitutional.

Worth mention here at present, there are 40 such courts in Uttar Pradesh. Senior member AIMPLB, Zafaryab Jilani confirmed that the plan to open one such court in every district of the country.

He added that the objective of Darul-Qaza is to decide issues in light of Shariat laws instead of going to other courts.

Jilani stated around Rs 50,000 was being spent on running a Shariat court which is known as Darul-Qaza. The board will talk about ways to make resources for this purpose during the July 15 meeting.

Criticizing this proposal, the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) said there was “no place for Sharia court, be it (in a) district or village or city.”

While BJP MP and Representative Meenakshi Lekhi asserted this was not an “Islamic Republic of India” and so there was no need for such courts. Union Minister PP Chaudhary stated any judgment passed by any such court would be unconstitutional. As far as the opening of a court is worried the society.
