Kolkata: West Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee has spoken of not implementing the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) and NRC in the state. The BJP reminds her of the 14-year-old speech which she gave in the Lok Sabha as an MP. In this speech, Mamata Banerjee described Bangladeshi infiltrators as a disaster for West Bengal.

BJP's IT cell head Amit Malviya tweeted a recorded note of Mamata Banerjee's speech in the Lok Sabha, stating, "Mamata Banerjee's old role (avatar) when she considered the intruders a disaster for West Bengal. When she became CM, the intruders became her vote bank. " In fact, on August 4, 2005, Mamata Banerjee, MP from Kolkata South Lok Sabha seat, raised the issue of Bangladeshi infiltrators in Lok Sabha.

During this, Mamata said that Bangladeshi infiltrators have become a disaster. She had said, "Bangladeshi are registering in the electoral rolls with the help of Indian names. After this, CM Mamata Banerjee has now spoken against opposing NRC and CAB and not to implement it in his ruled West Bengal. After this, the BJP has attacked her, reminding of her old statement.
