Kolkata: West Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee has attacked the central government. She has said that super emergency is in force in the country and we should protect our rights. Mamta wrote on Twitter that, 'Today is International Democratic Day. Let us once again pledge to protect the constitutional values established in the country. In this era of super emergency, we should take steps to protect all the rights and freedoms that our constitution has guaranteed.

On this statement of Banerjee, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Nalin retorted saying that Mamta should do self-inspection first. Super Emergency is what she has implemented in West Bengal. If someone in Bengal chants the slogan of Jai Sri Ram, he is put in jail. They should see what they have done to Bengal.

Mamta is an outspoken critic of the Modi government. On August 28, she accused the central government of strangling her government by misusing agencies and said that even if she had to go to jail, she would not bow down to the BJP. Referring to the summons sent by the CBI to several of her ministers, she claimed that the BJP was trying to capture Bengal, as her party raised its voice against the oppression.
