Chandigarh: Punjab's new Chief Minister Charanjeet Singh Channi has been elected. Today, he has taken over the command of Punjab by taking oath. In the meantime, however, some of the stories related to him have come up for discussion. In fact, recently, the BJP has targeted Charanjeet Singh Channi for choosing him as the Chief Minister of Punjab by the Congress, citing reports that he was accused of sending an inappropriate message to an IAS officer in 2018. BJP leader and party IT department chief Amit Malviya recently tweeted. In it, he said, "Congress’s CM pick Charanjit Channi faces action in a 3-year-old #MeToo case. He had allegedly sent an inappropriate text to a woman IAS officer in 2018. It was covered up but the case resurfaced when Punjab Women's Commission sent notice.
Well done, Rahul''

Let me tell all of you that the matter came to light again in May this year when the Chairman of the Punjab Commission for Women threatened to go on a fast if the state government did not clear its stand on channi's "inappropriate message" within a week. Channi Amarinder was a Minister in the Government during that time. At that time, Punjab Commission for Women Chairperson Manisha Gulati had said that she had written to the Chief Secretary for the action taken report of the government.

Now Amit Malviya has shared only the news published in May this year which you can see. The report said, "Outgoing Chief Minister Amarinder Singh was accused of harassing him by his opponents within the party over old cases. Following the allegations of 2018, the Punjab Commission for Women had taken suo motu cognizance and asked the government its stand on the matter. Let me tell all of you that at that time Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh had asked Channi to apologise to the woman officer. In fact, he said, "He believes that the matter has been resolved with an agreement of the woman officer.''
