BANGALORE: Setting its focus firmly on the 2023 Assembly elections, the ruling Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) in Karnataka will on Saturday organise ‘Janaspandana’, a public rally to mark Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai government’s 1 year and the party’s 3 years rule in the state.

The massive rally is being organised in Doddaballapur, a vicinity of Bangalore. With the rally, the BJP hopes to set apart all recent drawbacks faced in the state.

Siddaramaiah, the leader of the opposition, criticised the performance of the BJP, alleging that it charges 40% commission on projects and is rife with corruption. He insisted that it is a commission rally rather than a Janaspandana rally.

People in need should be attended to by the ruling administration, but regrettably, no minister makes house calls. Due tothe flooding and severe rainfall, people are in difficulty. He claimed that the leaders spend a lot of money on conventions rather than paying attention to the problems of the people.
The programme "Janaspandana" has political undertones. He claimed that the situation in Bengaluru is so dire as a result of the flooding that commuters are required to use boats.

The 'Janaspandana' gathering, which was funded by money taken through a 40% fee by BJP netas, was called a "convention of commission" by the Karnataka Congress unit on social media. The BJP has also been questioned by the Congress over whether its leaders will brag about murdering party members. Will you discuss how you eliminated contractor Santhosh Patil? With Minister for Horticulture Munirathna challenging the celebration of Siddaramaiah's 75th birthday, the BJP retaliated against the Congress and Siddaramaiah. The Congress may not have spent money there. According to MLC H Vishwanath, Rs 50 crore was spent to celebrate Siddaramaiah's birthday. He questioned why they spent that much money when it could have gone to flood victims.

The programme was deffered thrice and it was seen as a “jinx”. However, BJP is looking ahead to make the event a success and blow the trumpet for polls. The party is expecting a crowd of more than 3 lakh and party workers.
