New Delhi: Mehbooba Mufti launched a scornful attack on Monday at his former J&K coalition partner BJP over the Triple Talaq Bill issue. She stated that instead of offering a stay of execution to Muslim women, the bill would harmfully affect domestic life.

Worth mention here the Centre has been looking to push the Triple Talaq Bill in Parliament by calling it a humanitarian move even as the all opposition remains determined to resist its passage. Mufti also joined the chorus against the bill and asked its practical implications.

"By bringing the Triple Talaq Bill, they (BJP) are entering our houses. This will disturb our family life and also, there would be more problems for women and men economically," she was quoted by news agency ANI as saying.

"I have gone through a broken marriage and I feel that women face the biggest challenge economically after her marriage is broken,” She further stated.

Mufti also raked up the issue of reservation for Muslims and asserted, "When we talk about reservations for Muslims, BJP rejects it on religious lines. But when it comes to this kind of law, then they run to Parliament."

In the face of such condemnation and accusations, the PM Modi led government has maintained that its intentions are decent and they only want to help Muslim women in sorrow.
