AHMEDABAD: Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, voiced assurance on Tuesday that the BJP will once again sweep to power in the Assembly elections next month with a commanding majority that will shatter all previous records.

Congress now holds the record for winning the most seats ever. Under the direction of Chief Minister Madhavsinh Solanki, it won up to 149 seats in the 182-member Assembly in 1985.

Home Minister Amit Shah, accompanied by party candidates Jitendra Patel for Naranpura, Amit Shah for Ellisbridge, and Kanu Patel for Sanand were joined by Home Minister Shah, as  they submitted their nomination papers to the election official.

He implied that AAP would lose its deposits since Gujaratis had never voted for candidates from a third party. Shah said, the state has advanced to new levels of development under the direction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.

Party sources claim that the Union Minister is occupied with removing obstacles from challenging seats. The party has not yet chosen its final four candidates for the four seats: Manjalpur, Raopura, Mansa (Gandhinagar), and Kheralu in the Mehsana district.

He is also occupied appeasing angry workers and municipal authorities over the choice of candidates.
