Ahmedabad: The results of the civic elections in the third state of the country have come within a month. First Haryana, then Punjab and now Gujarat. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had to face public anger in Haryana and Punjab amid the heat of the peasant movements. The BJP has again achieved tremendous success in its stronghold Gujarat.

The BJP has retained its hold over all the six municipal corporations in which elections were held in Gujarat. It has strong mayors in Ahmedabad, Surat, Bhavnagar, Jamnagar, Rajkot and Vadodara. Congress has suffered the biggest blow from this election. The counting of votes is going on for the results of the Gujarat Municipal elections. As a result, the BJP has so far captured 40 seats, while Congress has got seven seats.

One thing is clear from the results of the election like a stone streak that Gujarat is the impregnable fort of the BJP and at the moment there is no visible shoal in this fort. However, these elections are held on local issues. Due to the presence of PM Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, everyone keeps an eye on every election. It is clear from the results that it is not a matter of the power of any opposition party to break the political system of the BJP in Gujarat.
