New Delhi: The success of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Election (GHMC), the results of the Legislative Council elections in half a dozen seats in Maharashtra have faded. Out of 6 seats in the Legislative Council, BJP won 1 seat, Mahavikas Aghadi in 4 seats and Independent candidate in one seat. The BJP has suffered a major setback by losing the traditional seat of Pune Nagpur.

The NCP has tightened up on the defeat of the BJP, saying that in the Legislative Council elections in Maharashtra, the people have rejected the BJP. Especially in Nagpur, which is considered to be a strong fort of the BJP, there is also Maharashtra Mahavikas Aghadi candidate Abhijit Banjari who has defeated BJP's, Sandeep Joshi. It is said that considering the results achieved as disappointing, the BJP Core Committee has started a thinking meeting in Mumbai, on which the reasons for the poor performance are being investigated.

On the election results, Devendra Fadnavis has said that nothing has happened like the BJP had expected the results. Fadnavis said that we could not gauge the strength of the opposing camp. Three parties fought together and we were alone in the fray. Attacking CM Uddhav Thackeray, Fadnavis said that the party whose CM is, has not got a single seat, so there is more need to assess them. We have got at least one seat.
