Kolkata: The body of a 45-year-old BJP worker was found hanging from a snare near Patharchatti Kabirsthan in Kotaldighi area of Bankura district of West Bengal on Monday (June 27, 2022) morning. The area falls under the Kotulpur police station area. According to media reports, the deceased has been identified as Sahdev Kha. The BJP's state unit has alleged that party worker Sahdev was murdered by Trinamool Congress (TMC) goons. At the same time, the Bengal Police claim that there is no evidence of murder.

The police, after an initial investigation, also claimed that Sahdev may have committed suicide due to mental depression. However, from the look, it seems that the deceased has been brought here and hanged after being killed elsewhere. However, it is being said that the family of the deceased has not yet given any written complaint, but the police had registered a case of unnatural death. At the same time, Sahdev's body has been sent to Bishnupur district hospital for post-mortem, a video recording of which has also been done.

According to the report, it is being claimed that the deceased BJP worker used to sell ice cream. Meanwhile, the BJP has denied the police's claims. The party has contended that Sahdev was an active BJP member who was working in booth number 104 at Gopalpur Dhak Para in the Kotulpur assembly constituency. The party alleges that Sahdev was killed on his way home and his body was hung from a tree to make a case of suicide. Led by MLA Niladri Sekhar Dana, the BJP staged a blockade on National Highway-6 and staged a protest.
