According to the sources, residents of village Tara Jeevanpur on Saturday evening were given Rs 500 by BJP workers who then forcefully applied inks on their fingers. The villagers said that three men from their village gave them Rs 500 on Saturday and said that they were from BJP. Talking to ANI, a villager said, "The men were from BJP and they asked us if we'll vote for the party. They told us now you can't vote. Don't tell anyone."

SDM of Chandauli has taken cognisance of the matter and has said that complaints have been filed and they are waiting for formal FIRs to be filed by the villagers in the matter.

In the seventh phase, 59 Lok Sabha constituencies are going to polls.

In Uttar Pradesh, polling is underway in 13 Lok Sabha. In 2014, BJP and its allies had won all the seats. However this time, the alliance of Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj party and a rejuvenated Congress under Priyanka Gandhi pose a formidable challenge to the BJP party.
