Himachal Pradesh: Anurag Thakur, a union minister, stated on Tuesday that the five years of BJP government in Himachal Pradesh were more significant than the 60 years of Congress rule in the state.

"You can see that our five years of control will have greater weight if you compare it to the 60 years that Congress has been in power. While we have brought developments to the state, they (Congress) have simply halted them "On Tuesday, Thakur said at a gathering of the general public in the Himachal Pradesh district of Bilaspur.

The minister went on to highlight key elements of the BJP's platform, stating that if elected to power in Himachal Pradesh, the party will guarantee women receive 33 percent of the jobs in the public sector, bicycles for schoolchildren and scooters for college students, Rs51,000 for poor women during their marriages, and three free gas cylinders per year.

The state's 68 assembly seats will be up for election on November 12; the results will be counted on December 8.
Congressman Sachin Pilot, who was campaigning for Congress in the Himachal Assembly elections, claimed that the voters are "inclined toward the party" and that the ruling party (the BJP) has "not done any work" in the last five years. Pilot asserted that the ruling BJP is unable to present a report card in election-bound Himachal Pradesh and that this is the reason why the party has "thrown all big leaders" including Prime Minister Pilot.

Pilot spoke to the media at this time and said, "In the elections, voters are leaning toward Congress. The BJP has been idle for the past five years. BJP is unable to present the grade in front of the general public. The BJP has thrown all notable leaders, including the prime minister, into the campaign for this reason."

On November 5, PM Modi began his campaign for the BJP in the Himachal Pradesh state that is set to hold elections. He urged voters to support the party in order to restore it to power. Amit Shah, the union home minister, has also spoken out against Congress at a number of rallies conducted in the region.
