New Delhi: The civic body elections of the national capital Delhi are getting closer. Political upheaval is also increasing equally fast. On one hand, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal is piping praises of his 'Delhi Model' and on the other hand, BJP is also looking for ways to counter this model.

On Wednesday, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri enumerated the work done by the central government in Delhi. He said, 'The Prime Minister gave the keys of flats in Kalkaji to slum dwellers in Delhi. A few days ago, the Prime Minister had given 3 thousand houses to the people. In the next census of Delhi, the population will be more than 2 crores. Under this, more than 10 lakh houses will be directed.' He further said that houses will be given to people living in slums in Delhi. 50 lakh people will get benefits under PM Uday Yojana. On the other hand, 75 lakh people will get the benefit of Land Pooling. Under the Land Pooling Scheme, if there is land in Delhi, people can build flats and sell them. DDA also participates in this.

During the press conference, Hardeep Singh Puri said that there are a total of 675 slum areas in Delhi. 376 slum areas are on DDA land. It is the responsibility of the Center to provide houses to these people. Forms have been filled on 210. Further, the Union Minister said that 299 slum areas come under the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB). No work has been done here. We will start this work as soon as the corporation elections are over. He said that the Land Pooling scheme was launched in February 2019. There have been proposals for Land Pooling on 7400 hectares. Necessary amendment will be done regarding this. The Group Housing Society was formed in 1970. The population of Delhi was considered to be 1.67 crores at that time. But in the next census, Delhi will have a population of more than 2 crores. On the other hand, after 2040, the population will increase to around 30 million.
