Chandigarh: Captain Amarinder Singh's party 'Punjab Lok Congress' is likely to merge with the Bharatiya Janata Party soon. There is an in-principle approval between the two parties on this. A final decision on this may be made in the next few days. This may help the BJP to expand its base in Punjab, so speculations continue on what Captain Amarinder Singh might get in return. It is being told that by making Captain Amarinder Singh the vice-presidential candidate, the BJP may try to send a better message to the Sikh community. The BJP's plan is also being seen as an attempt to give another blow to Congress.

In fact, Captain Amarinder Singh is currently suffering from a serious spine disease. He has had an operation in London and is currently resting. His family is also with him at the moment. It may take some time for him to recover from this disease. Due to health reasons, Captain has not been able to give time to his party for a long time. Even in the last assembly elections, he could not run the party very well and the captain, who was the CM for a long time, failed to bring his party to a strong position in Punjab. The party contested 28 seats in Punjab in alliance with the NDA but failed to win even one seat. The bail of most of the candidates was also forfeited.

Discussion of becoming vice president:-
There is talk that the BJP may field Captain Amarinder Singh as the Vice Presidential candidate. This may help the BJP to try to send a positive message to the Sikh community, which may benefit it in the wake of the next elections to the Punjab Assembly. At the same time, it can also prove to be able to give a psychological blow to Congress. A person who is very close to the Gandhi family can be kept in an uncomfortable situation as he is the Chairman of the Upper House. Since the time of the farmers' agitation, the BJP has been trying to describe itself as close to the Sikh community.

For this, sometimes PM Narendra Modi was seen going to Gurudwara Rakabganj, sometimes in Punjab, he was seen wearing a turban. The withdrawal of the farm laws on the Sikh guru's incarnation day was also seen as his attempt. It is being told that in this effort, the BJP can appoint a distinguished person from the Sikh community as the Vice President. However, in this race, Captain Amarinder Singh lags behind for health reasons, while Hardeep Singh Puri, a cabinet minister in the Modi government, is considered to be ahead.
