NEW DELHI: The BJP's performance in the Assembly elections in five states reflects the public's growing faith in the party, said Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, who commented on the party's performance on Thursday.
Sharing concern before media, the Minister said that the outcome demonstrates a new form of politics centred on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's development models. "The development culture introduced by Prime Minister Modi has yielded tangible dividends on the ground," Naqvi continued.
Commenting on Congress' performance, Naqvi stated that the Congress has to move away from family-oriented politics. "Everyone was running for office to stop the BJP, but the public has decided to bless the party, as evidenced by the trends," the Union Minister stated.
As per current trends, the ruling BJP has won 17 Assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh and currently holds a 235-seat majority, while the Samajwadi Party holds 116 seats. In the state, the Congress presently leads in two assembly constituencies and the BSP in one.
