28,000 cases of corona reported so far, rapidly growing black fungus wreaks havoc

The fungus, which became an epidemic after the Covid transition, has so far been found in 28 States of the country. About 19,000 cases have been reported in 26 states till a few days ago, but in a high-level meeting of the GoM on Monday, officials said that more than 28,000 cases have been reported in 28 states so far. However, during the meeting, officials have not made public the details of the death due to which about 300 patients have been reported killed in the country so far due to fungus.

In the meeting, officials said that 28,252 patients have been found to be fungus infected in the country, out of which 86 per cent (24,370 cases) have been infected with covid. 62.3 per cent (17,601) of these patients were already diabetic. Maharashtra has received the highest number of 6,339 cases so far. In Gujarat, 5,486 people have fallen prey to fungus. Meanwhile, officials have said that more than 30,000 sample sequential sequences have been completed in 10 labs so far through which information about different variants is also being received.

Meanwhile, Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan said that the situation in India is now improving very fast. The recovery rate of covid is also increasing. He said 17 per cent of the active cases in the country are in 26 States. Less than 1000 cases have been reported daily in the States of Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Gujarat, Uttarakhand and Jharkhand.

More than 2,000 cases have been reported in five states of Jammu, Punjab, Bihar, Chhattisgarh and Uttar Pradesh. Even in the most affected States like Maharashtra, Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, the case figures have also shown a significant decline. The growth rate of infection has come down from 14.7 per cent (May 5) to 3.48 per cent.

Besides the Health Minister, External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar, Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministers Hardeep S Puri and Nityanand Rai and Ashwini Kumar Choubey were also present in the 28th meeting. Besides, niti aayog member Dr VK Paul, DBT secretary Dr Renu Swarup, Director General of Health Services Dr Sunil Kumar and other officials were present.
