KOCHI:  Tthe Kerala High Court will hear today an appeal filed by the Kerala Yukthivadi Sangham. They want the State Government to act on the State Law Reforms Commission's recommendation to pass the Kerala eradication of inhuman evil practises, sorcery, and black magic bill.

The case will be looked at by the Kerala High Court's division bench, which includes Chief Justice S. Manikumar.

The petition said that the central government at the national level or the state government at the state level could pass a law like the anti-superstition bill that Maharashtra passed in 2013.

The petitioner also asked that a special investigation team be made to look into all of the disappearances that have happened in the state in the last fifty years.  The petition also said that it could follow the advice of the Justice KT Thomas Commission report, which said that the Anti-Supersition Act should be used.

It also said, "Ban ads that play on superstitions in media like newspapers and social media. Prohibit telefilms, serials, and films about witchcraft and sorcery that are not for the public good and have no artistic value.

There may be an order to ban witchcraft and sorcery. Implement the Drugs and Magic Remedies Objectionable Advertisements Act, 1954, in the country."

It also sought for a police investigation and closure of all existing witchcraft centres in Kerala.
