QUETTA: An official reported that at least three persons were killed and 24 others were injured in a bomb in Pakistan's Quetta city.

Waseem Baig, the media coordinator for the Balochistan province's health department, reported that among the casualties was a deputy superintendent of police.

The explosion occurred on Wednesday night near a police truck in a bustling market on the city's Fatima Jinnah Road. Police, security personnel, and rescue teams rushed to the scene, taking the dead and injured to a hospital. According to officials, the death toll could rise higher because five of the injured were in severe condition.

The police bomb disposal unit is presently examining the cause of the explosion. According to local reports, many vehicles parked nearby were also damaged, and a shop was engulfed in flames. A search effort has been underway after police and security forces blocked off the area. The blast has yet to be claimed by any group or individual.
