Dehradun: Patients are often lost their lives due to non-availability of blood on time. In mountainous terrain, the problem is even more complicated. However, the solution to this trouble tackle has been taken. After the success of the Tele-medicine service 555, it has now been proposed to use the drone service to reach the laboratory of District Hospital Tehri for testing the blood samples of patients coming to primary health centres.

The CD space company has also shown a demo of delivering blood samples with drones under the pilot project, carrying drone blood samples from PHC Nandaprayag, about 32 km away, to the District hospital in just 18 minutes. The 555 tele-medicine service is proving to be a boon for patients in far-flung areas who are unable to reach the hospital.

Similarly, to help the patients, the CD Space robotics company has offered drones to patients coming to PHC-CHCs for sample testing of blood and urine etc. IIT Kanpur students have also showcased the demo. As a trial, it took a drone blood sample from Nandgaon PHCs, about 32 km away, to reach the district hospital in just 18 minutes. Let me tell you that the cost of a drone is 10 to 12 million.
