New Delhi: Bob Iger, CEO of Disney, the world's leading American entertainment company, has resigned from Apple's board of directors. Iger joined the board of this giant mobile phone company in 2011. He was the head of the company's corporate governance committee. Iger was also on Apple's Compensation Board. Bob Iger submitted his resignation on 10 September. The reason for this resignation is being attributed to the competition between Apple and Disney in video streaming. From November 1, Apple will enter video streaming through TV Plus service.

Disney will also start streaming service in November. Apple informed about this resignation on Friday. Iger joined Apple's board in 2011 after Apple's co-founder Steve Jobs passed away. According to the Fortune report, Jobs had asked Iger to join the board before he died. Jobs also served on Disney's board. The corporate relationships of the two companies go back for several years. Iger became the CEO of Disney in 2005 and appeared on stage with Steve Jobs when iTunes content was announced a short time later. Please note that Apple makes premium segment mobile phones.
