Bodh Gaya is the holiest of Buddhist destinations and a World Heritage Site in Gaya district in the Indian state of Bihar. Bodhgaya offers Buddhist pilgrims the ultimate place to pray and meditate. The feelling of being on the land where Budhha once himself walked on is truly commendable.

Mahabodhi Temple along with several other temples in Bodhgaya are frequented by many pilgrims that visit here from all over the world.

How to reach there?

- By Air: Gaya airport is located at a distance of about 7 km from the main city. Tourists can get direct and indirect flights to various destinations from this airport. This airport has recently been converted into an international terminus with flights available for Colombo and Singapore. You can hire taxis and buses to reach the airport easily. You can get flights to various places such as Bombay, Delhi, Calcutta, Ranchi, Lucknow and many more places.

- By Train: The nearest rail head is Gaya Junction, which is 13 kilometres away from Bodh Gaya. It is well-connected to major Indian cities. Once you reach at the Gaya railway station, you can reach the holy town by hiring any local taxi from there. Some of the regular trains are Sealdah-New Delhi Rajdhani Express, Howrah Rajdhani Express, Howrah-New Delhi Rajdhani Express and Kolkata Mail.

The second nearest railway station is in Patna which is 110 kilometres away from Bodh Gaya. Patna rail head boasts of a good connectivity and most of the Indian cities including metros like Bengaluru, Delhi, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Pune are linked with the Patna railhead.

- By Bus: A main road connects the town of Bodh Gaya to the city of Gaya. Bihar State Tourism Corporation runs bus services (standard as well as deluxe buses) from Patna to Bodh Gaya twice daily. Apart from Patna, bus services are also available from Nalanda, Rajgir, Varanasi and Kathmandu. Now, a new line of luxury air-conditioned Volvo buses have been introduced that connect Bodh Gaya with nearby towns and cities.
