Bogus Input on Tax Credit: Zee Group and Larsen and Toubro

The Income Tax Department carried out limited verification exercises at the office premises of the Zee Group and Larsen and Toubro to verify into their bogus inputs about tax credit, the official said. A senior IT official, tod, "There are no searches or raids but we are carrying out limited verification exercise at the offices of the Larsen and Toubro and Zee group as we had information that they had claimed bogus input tax credit.

" The official said that it is basically a follow-up exercise and there is limited action on both the groups. "We are covering these group and the companies related to these groups on account of this bogus input taxes," the official added. The official, however, refused to share the details of the offices where the verification process is being carried out. The media group has confirmed the development. In a statement on Monday, a company spokesperson said "officials from the tax department have visited our offices, with certain queries.

Our officials are providing all the required information and extending complete cooperation." Though the spokesperson did not specify whether the survey is only at its offices in Mumbai, the department official cited above said they are searching Zee offices across Mumbai and Delhi. However, the official refused to share more details. Zee Group founder Subhash Chandra is a member of the Upper House of Parliament.
