KL Rahul scored his maiden century against Mumbai Indians to create the Huge score of 197 runs. But Rahul’s impressive inning went in vain as Mumbai achieved the target on the last ball of the game. It was West Indies veteran Kieron Pollard whose played a captain knock and helped the team to win the match. He was at his brutal best as he smashed 83 runs off 31 balls laced with 10 sixes and three boundaries to help Mumbai Indians complete their highest ever successful run-chase at the Wankhede Stadium. Yuvraj Singh, who has not been a part of MI’s last two matches, enjoyed Pollard’s heroics as the left-handed batter took to Twitter to express his delight after the nail-biting three-wicket win over a strong KXIP side.

Pollard, who was making his captaincy debut in the IPL in absence of regular captain Rohit Sharma, promoted himself at number four and whacked the KXIP bowlers for fun. Pollard’s strike rate of 267.74 shows how much the West Indian enjoyed batting on the Wankhede track. Batting first, KXIP posted a huge score of 197-4 in 20 overs following KL Rahul’s smashing century and Chris Gayle’s quickfire knock of 63 runs off 36 balls.  MI started the chase on a bright note but kept losing wickets at regular interval. Pollard’s introduction in the chase completely changed the tone of the game as the 31-year-old picked the KXIP bowlers apart.   Hardik Pandya’s 19 runs off 13 balls and Alzarri Joseph’s handy 15 not-out in 13 balls helped MI cross the winning line.
