Mumbai: The issue of news channels programmes in the country is in the limelight these days. The Bombay High Court, on the issue of news channels last Friday, questioned the Central Government whether there is any arrangement to investigate before anyone is harmed by the programme on channels? The court asked that if the media violates the rules, it is the responsibility of the Government and parliament to take appropriate action in this regard.

The Bombay High Court is hearing petitions filed these days for showing the programme related to the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. These petitions have been filed by former IPS officers as well as other eminent personalities. The petitions have sought a ban on media trawl on Sushant case. The Bench of the Court Chief Justice Dipankar Datta and Justice Girish Kulkarni said that if a government official can be removed in an offence, the same rule applies to private employees.

The court, while hearing the plea, said that in the case of print media, the government has a censor arrangement, but why the system is not for electronic media. The court questioned the intention of the Government and said that the government is not in support of curbing the electronic media.
