Bombay High Court grants bail to four accused in Malegaon blast case

Nashik: Four persons accused in the 2008 bomb blasts case in Malegaon in Nasik district of Maharashtra have been granted bail by the Bombay High Court on Friday. The High Court has granted bail to the accused in the case, Dhan Singh, Manohar Nachavarria, Rajendra Chaudhary and Lokesh Sharma. There were serial blasts in Malegaon on 8 September 2008, killing more than 35 people. At the same time, about 100 people were injured.

It may be noted that the BJP MP from Bhopal, Sadhvi Pragya Thakur, is also the accused in the case. She was appearing in a special Nia court on June 8. He had said in the meantime that he has no information about the Malegaon bomb blast of 2008 years. He is considered to be one of the main accused in the case. Pragya, who is in front of a special court in the National Investigation Agency (NIA), has been asked by special Judge V. S. Padkar had said, "I am not aware." Sudhakar Dwivedi, the second accused in the case, also made a similar statement to Pragya before the Special Court.

The NIA had taken a probe into the matter from the Maharashtra anti-terror Squad (ATS) in April, 2011. The charge sheet includes names of 14 accused other than Pragya, Purohit and Dwivedi, including major Ramesh Upadhyay, Sameer Kulkarni, Rakesh Dhawade, Praveen Takkalis and Sudhakar Chaturvedi.
