Mumbai: The Bombay High Court has granted bail to poet and social activist Varavara Rao, arrested in the Elgar-Parishad case. The High Court said that this is a fit case and Varavara Rao is awarded bail. A division bench of Justice SS Shinde and Justice Manish Pitale said that certain conditions would be applicable. Rao has been instructed to discharge from Nanavati Hospital for 6 months.

Bombay High Court has granted bail to Varavara Rao on medical grounds. He has been granted bail on the condition that he has to stay in Mumbai and appear for investigation. The court said that Varavara Rao will have to stay in Mumbai. He has to provide information about their place of living. He will have to appear whenever called during the trial. He can apply for personal relief. The court said that he can make a WhatsApp video call at the nearest police station and tell about his presence. This is the first bail in the Elgar Parishad case.

Actually, Varavara Rao, who was imprisoned in the Bhima Koregaon case, was found to be Corona positive in July last year. Varavara Rao, who was imprisoned in Taloja central prison of Navi Mumbai in judicial custody, was then admitted to the Government JJ Hospital. Then the family of Varavara Rao had expressed concern about his deteriorating condition. After this, the High Court ordered him to be admitted to Nanavati Hospital.
