Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has completed 100 days in office since becoming the state's 23rd Chief Minister on July 28, and debates about his accomplishments and failures have erupted within the ruling BJP as well as outside the state.

Bommai, who began his innings well, appears to have a daunting task ahead of him in terms of delivering policies and programmes of the government to the masses and elevating himself as a popular leader who can win elections for the party. Being projected as the party's future face in Karnataka by none other than Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Bommai, who began his innings well, appears to have a daunting task ahead of him in terms of delivering policies and programmes of the government to the masses and elevating.

On his first day in office, Bommai announced a student scholarship programme for the children of farmers, which will benefit 19 lakh students. Though the scheme has been well received, his other major announcement about ensuring file clearance by bureaucracy has been met with scepticism. The root cause of corruption appeared to be the persistence of files. People's expectations have risen since Bommai stated that no file will remain pending at the government level for more than 15 days. However, Bommai disappointed the public on this front, as lakhs of files remain unprocessed to this day.
