Bopanna-Middlekoop duo manages to make it to the third round of French Open

India's tennis star Rohan Bopanna and his Netherlands teammate Matwe Middlecoop on Thursday defeated Kazakhstan's Andre Golubev and France's Fabris Matirne to book their place in the third round of the French Open. The Bopanna-Middlekoop duo defeated the Golubev-Matirn pair by straight sets of 6-3, and 6-4. The 16-seeded duo of Bopanna and Middlecoop defeated Guimar Weinberg and Luka van Sche in straight sets 6-4, 6-1 in a match that lasted one hour and two minutes on Tuesday.

Not long ago, it was reported that Rohan Bopanna and his Canadian partner Denis Shapovlov have crashed out of the Miami Open tennis tournament after suffering straight sets defeats in the men's doubles quarter-finals. Rohan Bopanna and Shapovlov, who have been pairing up in most of the tournaments for the last three years, lost 2-6, 1-6 to the sixth-seeded pair of Wesley Koolhof of the Netherlands and Neil Skoopsky of Great Britain in the last 8 matches. The un-ranked pair of Rohan Bopanna and Shapovlov had earlier made a comeback by defeating the top-seeded Croatian pair of Nicola Mectic and Met Pavich in straight sets in the previous round.

Earlier, there were reports that India's Rohan Bopanna and Ramkumar Ramanathan duo had won the title of Tata Open Maharashtra. It is also being called the pair's second consecutive ATP World Tour title. Earlier, Bopanna and Ramkumar had also won the Adelaide Open. In the final of the Tata Open, the pair defeated the duo of Luke Seville and John Patrick Smith.
