sarajevo: Prosecutors announced on Monday that a 43-year-old man has been detained in Bosnia on suspicion of having ties to Daesh militants and of plotting to attack Muslims of other traditions and one of their mosques.

According to a statement from Bosnia's state prosecutor's office, the man from Zenica, in the country's centre, had previously been found guilty of crimes involving terrorism and fighting in Syria.
Both the denial of the allegations and the identity of the attorney defending him were left out of the statement.

The man was suspected of asking for instructions on how to make an explosive device that could be set off by a phone while communicating digitally with supporters of Daesh, according to the statement.

He was allegedly considering attacking Islamic scholars who preached against militants and informed Bosnian authorities of their activities.

46 individuals who had recently returned from Iraq or Syria were tried by Bosnia's state court and found guilty in recent years. According to Bosnian intelligence, between 2012 and 2016, 241 adults and 80 children from Bosnia migrated to Syria and Iraq.

According to a State Investigation and Protection Agency spokeswoman, the man was arrested on Friday.
