The Boston Marathon has been cancelled due to the Covid-19 epidemic. For the first time in the history of the last 124 years of the marathon, it is being cancelled. The Boston Athletic Association (BAA) has shared this information.

The BAA said in a statement that instead it will be a virtual event and all participants will receive a finisher's medal if they can prove that they have covered a distance of 42 km within six hours at any time between September 7-14. This marathon was to be held on April 20 before this, but it was postponed till September 14. It will no longer be held in September. The BAA has also said that all the participants will be refunded their full fees.
