Brazil reported 59,826 new corona cases on Friday. With the addition of these cases, the nationwide tally reaches to 9,118,513. According to the health ministry, 1,119 deaths from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, taking its death toll to 222,666.

the most populated in the country, the state of Sao Paulo is the hardest hit, with 1,759,957 cases and 52,722 deaths, followed by Rio de Janeiro, with 516,868 cases and 29,563 deaths.Specialists fear that a new variant of the virus detected in the northern state of Amazonas will spread to other regions. Due to the new strain, several countries have banned flights to Brazil, including Britain, Portugal, Italy, Colombia, Turkey, Peru and Israel.

Talking about corona cases, Coronavirus cases rise unabated across the globe, with nearly 102.6 million infected by the deadly contagion. While 74,299,138 have recovered, 2,214,227 have died so far. The US remains the worst-hit country with 26,500,252, followed by India, Brazil, Russia and the United Kingdom. However, it terms of the total number of active cases, US tops the charts, followed by France, UK, Brazil and Belgium.
