Brazil reports 1,350 corona deaths, over 50,000 cases in a day

 Brazil reported fresh 1,350 corona deaths in the last 24 hours. With the addition of these cases, the country's death toll reaches to 233,520.

According to the Ministry of Health, tests reported 51,486 new cases of corona infection in the same period, bringing the accumulated number of cases to 9,599,565. The state of Sao Paulo, the most populous in the country, is the hardest hit by the pandemic, with a total of 55,087 deaths and 1,864,977 cases. The government said more than four million people have been vaccinated following the emergency approval of the CoronaVac vaccine developed by Chinese firm Sinovac Life Sciences and a vaccine by British-Swedish company AstraZeneca.

Brazil has the world's second-highest corona death toll after the United States, and the third-largest outbreak, following the United States and India. Coronavirus cases rise unabated across the globe, with more than 107.4 million infected by the deadly contagion. While 79,428,653 have recovered, 2,348,727 have died so far. The US remains the worst-hit country with 27,793,890, followed by India, Brazil, Russia and the United Kingdom. However, in terms of the total number of active cases, the US tops the charts, followed by France, UK, Brazil and Belgium.
